Supernova Winner 2020

Jennifer Brown

– RidgeCrest Supernova Winner 2020 –

The Supernova is the highest individual honor that our company gives and each year, one individual on the leadership team at RidgeCrest is voted as the community’s Supernova. The winner of this award is voted on by their colleagues and the honor is bestowed upon them at the company’s yearly Annual Meeting.

The criteria for voting are based on upholding our company’s mission to be caring professionals dedicated to quality services. Additionally, this individual will consistently deliver excellent customer service (to Members and colleagues), lead positively with integrity, take accountability, put the team before themselves and will embody the company’s vision to create communities where people live longer, healthier, and happier lives.

This year, we are proud to congratulate our Social Director, Jennifer Brown as the recipient of the 2020 RidgeCrest Supernova Award. This honor was bestowed during RidgeCrest’s Supernova Celebration on Friday August 21st at Graylyn in Winston-Salem.

“In every decision that is made, people are the root of the answer. Whether it is our Members or Team Members or Family Members, everyone is taken into consideration when making a decision.”

Previous to RidgeCrest, Jennifer worked in Product Development. She enjoyed the creative aspect of that position, but was unfulfilled, feeling like she wasn’t serving anyone or anything. She made the decision to leave that position and go wherever the wind would take her. She came across the Social Director position at RidgeCrest during a job fair at a local church and applied. Now in her position she feels like this is the perfect timing of life to find this position and job working with seniors. She recently transitioned to a Social Director position at sister senior living community, Homestead Hills in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She’s looking forward to the growth in this new step and grateful to the RidgeCrest community for supporting her transition into her new role.

Interview with Jennifer Brown

How do you feel being chosen as your community’s Supernova by your peers?

It was definitely a surprise as I did not expect it! It was a bit different receiving the award after the transition but felt great to be able to celebrate with the team.

In your position, how do you fulfill the company’s Guiding Principles (People First Always, We Exist To Serve Our Members and We Have A Responsibility to be Full)?

In every decision that is made, people are the root of the answer. Whether it is our Members or Team Members or Family Members, everyone is taken into consideration when making a decision. And the right answer always comes out when you consider each person in the situation. I am so thankful to be in a role that I can interact so closely with our Members and Prospects. I truly feel that I play a role in the journey for our Members from coming to the community. From the first time that they come into a community, to becoming Members and getting to know them as people (who they are and what they like to do), it’s truly been a blessing.

What do you want people to know about living at a retirement community?

I think we provide such an exceptional depth of consideration for our Members. Our team works hard to ensure that each aspect of the retirement experience from the care and amenities to the social programs and dining that are offered are of exceptional quality. Being a part of such a dynamic group of individuals who take every tiny detail into consideration as it relates to the needs and wants of the Members is astounding. I think senior living comes with a negative connotation, this is not a place that you spend the last of your time. This is a place where you spend your later years LIVING! The worries and responsibilities melt away and you can focus on living your best life!

Positions that are eligible to vote and win the Supernova Award include: HR Director, Business Manager, Assistant Business Manager, Care Services Administrator, Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, Resident Care Director, Lifestyle Advisor, Lifestyle Advisor – Care Services, Move-In Coordinator, Social Director, Activity Director, Wellness Director, Director of Facility Services, Director of Dining Services, Executive Chef, Client Services Manager (Live Long Well Care).
