Sugarloaf Mountain Musicians
Mayberry Llama’s and the Sugarloaf Mountain Musicians make a great Saturday event. We love it when our sweet friends from Mayberry Llama come by and show us a lot of Llama Love and nothing beats having some good ole time music played by one of our favorite groups the Sugarloaf Mountain Musicians. Mad Science
We recently welcomed the Mad Science of the Triangle come out for an awesome science demonstration called “Chem in a Flash”. We had a blast learning about chemical reactions and how chemistry affects our everyday lives. Afterward, we had a Toasty Tuesday Chemical Cocktail Social with Mayberry Spirits Distillery. Owner Van did a mixology demonstration where he made cocktails from the products from the distillery which are whiskey and modern-day moonshine.
Kayla Riska Art
We love it when Kayla Riska comes and does art with us. We recently learned about Abstract Art. According to the Oxford Dictionary abstract art is the art that does not attempt to represent external reality but seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures.
St. Patrick’s Day
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! We’ve been having a wonderful celebration today for St. Patty’s! We kicked off the day with ‘Luck of the Irish’ smoothies followed by a Shamrock Photo Booth, Green Games, and we were feeling ‘Doggone Lucky’ with a visit from Rocco, the therapy dog! It’s been so much fun dressing up in our green and celebrating our Irish (or Irish for the day) heritage!
Pets
We love welcoming therapy pets to our community! They provide great physical and mental health benefits including lower blood pressure, cardiovascular health, providing comfort, decreases anxiety, decreases feelings of isolation, and more. We recently welcomed Rocco and he always puts a smile on our faces!
Juicing
We are continually focused on ways to improve our health and Social Director, Jennifer introduced juicing to our ladies! Juicing is an excellent way to receive much-needed vitamins, control blood sugar, build immunity, and maintain weight!
International Women’s Day
#ThrowbackThursday to International Women’s Day at the beginning of March! We had a wonderful evening as three women from our local area visited to speak about how they became leaders in the community. Tanya Jones, Executive Director of the Surry Arts Council, Deidra Rogers from Rogers Realty, and Katherine “Kat” Spencer Owner of Katherine’s Hair & Style spoke of their journeys to become the women they are today. We are so glad to honor these amazing Women on International Women’s Day.
Ninety N’ Fit
Our Wellness Associate, Renatha has been doing a great job keeping our Members in assisted living “Ninety N’ Fit”!
